How Did I Not Know About This, and Other Randomness

Happy Cinco de Mayo!  It's been years since I've celebrated this holiday, but if you're getting crazy tonight, more power to you!

Last week, I was lamenting the fact that I couldn't check my results from the 2013 Runner's World Half because they weren't on the website anymore, and thus didn't know how far off my PR I was. Well, little did I know there is a site out there that apparently stores results from ALL your races?!?! How did I not know about this?  Jenny (from Run Jenny Run) was kind enough to comment on that post and share the site with me, so today's post goes out to her! Thanks Jenny!

The site is called Athlinks and when I logged in I was happy to see race results from the past few years, including the RW Half!  Yippee!!  Perhaps I'm the only one out there who's never heard of this site, but if you're in the same boat as me, check it out!  It's so fancy.  So now I know I ran St. Luke's 33 seconds slower than my PR, and I can sleep easy tonight.  Ahhhhhhhh, glad I got that cleared up.

On to some other randomness.  On Friday I went out for happy hour.  Which apparently goes from 5pm to 2am.  Oy vey.  This is what happens when you're no longer training for a race and don't have a long run scheduled for the next day.  Wild debauchery ensues.

Those empanadas were yummy

For most of Saturday, I felt like death (obviously).  Drinking at 36 is whole different ball game than drinking at 26.  Sober Jill knows this.  Happy hour Jill does not!

I babysat late Saturday night and by that time was feeling much better (TONS of Gatorade).  I ended up catching an old movie on PBS that I had never seen before - Three Coins in the Fountain.  It was made in the 50's and set in Italy.  It was a lovely little movie, even if the sexist undertones were wildly outdated.

The weather in Baltimore is currently PHENOMENAL.  Summer is here!  That means open-toed shoes, which means I had to paint my toenails for probably the first time since September.
On another note, it was WAY too hot to be wearing leggings yesterday.  Time to break out the shorts.  FINALLY!

And lastly, I pre-ordered this book and just received it in the mail. I have been following Jeff Goins for awhile and this book comes highly anticipated.  I can't wait to get into it.

Tell me something random!

Did you know about Athlinks?!

Is it finally open-toe shoe weather in your neighborhood?

  1. I knew about Athlinks now that you mention it, but I had totally forgotten. Luckily, my PR half is a really easy number to remember! 1:41:30. No playing around with that one!

    1. It's a dang wonder that site. I love it. One of these nights in my dreams, I'll pretend I'm running a 1:41 half marathon alongside you Suze!

  2. I have been sporting flip flops to and from work! Yesterday was just beautiful here...

And something random. I am wearing my hair in a ponytail today and I literally never wear my hair back! Feels weird, but it is a little dirty after the gym this morning and didn't have time to wash it!

  3. Finally warm in Philly too!

If I'm going to indulge in drinks, I need to make sure my next day is totally clear. I hate losing a day to it but at 38 I have no choice!

    1. Yay for warm weather in PA! I'm going home this weekend for Mother's Day and was hoping the good weather would follow me.
Yes, totally with you on needing the entire next day after drinking. Every single time, I ask myself WHY on earth did I do this to myself? Young mind, old body.

  4. I am always looking for reading recommendations--thanks for the suggestion (adding to the list). I just picked up 10% Happier. Have you heard of it?

FINALLY warm! Soooo excited to bust out my flip flops and summer dresses (though it's weird we kind of skipped a season, I'm not complaining). XOXO

    1. Oooh, I'm always looking for good book recommendations too! I remember reading something about 10% Happier and then never following through on picking it up. Adding to my list!
      FLIP FLOPS for the win!

  5. I found out about athlinks about a year ago and LOVE it. Except the fact that not all the races I do are on there...
It was 86 degrees in NEW HAMPSHIRE yesterday, so I can only imagine how hot it was down here. Oy. It's going to be a longgg summer. But don't let me complain after dealing with the cold all winter.

    1. Well I must be the only one living in the dark ages that never heard of it! So far, I think most of my recent races made it on there. I have a terrible memory and often forget to write down my times on my bib, even though I have the best intentions. So this site is GOLD!
Baltimore does tend to get kinda humid and sticky all summer but I agree, after waiting ALL winter for this, I'll take it!

    1. Happy hour is a sneaky little bastard isn't it?! Sucks us in with the lure of practically free drinks and food and then we sit there all night giving it exactly what it wanted!

Yes, my usual Friday night consists of takeout, TV, and falling asleep on the couch. I'm so old! HAHA

  11. I remembered a couple of days ago just how different drinking is now. We're in NYC and stayed out late... started out at a comedy club then moved to a bar after the show. I was hung over allllll the next day. I didn't feel right until the NEXT day. I'm too old for this shit! LOL

    1. Ahhhhhh! Exactly the same for me Pam! When I'm drinking it seems like a real great idea, and the next day I'm completely hating my life! Ha, Hope you're recovered and hope you had a great trip!
